Laser Coupling Alignment

Coupling Laser Alignment Report
UPI provides precision laser shaft alignment for directly coupled machinery.
Precision alignment will lead to reduced maintenance and operational costs; as well as increased product quality. There are a number of ways that this process will save money.
First, misalignment is the leading cause of bearing failure. Misalignment destroys bearings, seals and couplings long before they reach their life expectancy. When a motor fails (the most likely component to fail) it can cause secondary damage to the driven machine (pump, fan, compressor, etc.), increasing the cost of failure as much as 10 times.

Laser Sheave Alignment

Sheave Laser Alignment Report
UPI provides precision laser belt alignment with the following benefits: 
  • Vertical angle, horizontal angle and offset misalignment are simultaneously and accurately measured from the pulley grooves where the belts operate
  • Accurate measurement of pulley diameters 3″ and larger
  • Accurate measurement of belt distances from 6 inches to 20 feet

We thoroughly check each machine before starting the alignment process to check for framework anomalies that could reduce the belt alignment results. Since wobbly or warped pulleys greatly affect alignment quality, we can check each pulley to ensure proper mounting on the shafts and that the shafts are straight. To compensate pulleys with different wall thicknesses, we use a magnetic target that mounts in the sheave’s belt groove providing higher accuracy. Our laser tool furnishes a target for each pulley, providing faster and more accurate correction of any angular, offset and twist misalignment between the pulleys.
