What Imbalance Looks Like |
ImbalanceWhen a fan or rotating element is unbalanced the center or mass and the center of rotation are different thus increasing the vibration and energy usage as well as reduce the bearing life due to increased loading. As in the fan to the left, which is eccentric; when the center of rotational mass does not equal the physical center of the object it will wobble. Reducing this wobble will lengthen machine life as well as reduce energy usage.
UPI uses a computerized balancing system with our vibration analyzers or a 3-Run Balance technique to determine the optimal weight amount and position to place the balancing weight to reduce the balance levels to below the Balance Grade Goal 0.098 inch/sec. This is the international balance grade known as 2.5 as determined by ISO 1940-1. |
