Infrared Thermography

Infrared radiation was discovered in the 1800s by astronomer William Herschel by measuring the temperature of light refracted through a prism. A temperature was found where no "light" appeared. This became known as infrared radiation.

In the 1960s the ability read and also to display this radiation as a picture was developed by FLIR and the age of infrared thermography began. Infrared Thermography is a combination of photography and the reading of thermal patterns. Today infrared thermography is being used in applications from building science to healthcare to condition monitoring and more.

Utter Precision, Inc. was founded by OJ Utter, a certified Level III Thermographer to provide infrared inspection services and also low cost infrared cameras and infrared training.

Infrared cameras are also sometimes called thermal imagers. As the technology continues to become more affordable for maintenance staffs both large; more business sectors will begin to think thermally about the world that is around them.

The introduction of the FLIR/Extech i5 and the FLIR i-Series, b-Series, T-Series and B-Series infrared cameras has ushered in a new era to the world of heat signature photography.

As a proud Distributor of FLIR infrared cameras we would like to welcome you to learn more about each of these cameras by clicking on the individual pictures.
